LuvTrails partners with Asheville urban cycling advocacy group

ASHEVILLE, NC – LuvTrails-Trailcare of Fort Collins, CO, and Asheville on Bikes of Asheville, NC have concluded a partnership to generate more funds for the cycling organization’s bike advocacy work and projects in Asheville. It is the first partnership of its kind where an urban bike advocacy organization will use LuvTrails’ unique geofencing tool to encourage city bike riders to donate to its mission to create safe urban streets, bike lanes, and commuter cycling.

Asheville on Bikes (AoB) cultivates the culture of urban and commuter cycling through advocacy, education, & celebration. They believe that cycling has a direct impact on the health of their community. LuvTrails-Trailcare shares this mission and has developed mobile software tools to help non-profit, volunteer trail, and cycling groups all over the country achieve their goals.

The partnership allows AoB to use the LuvTrails mobile app for one-time donations and its proprietary Trailcare tool for per-mile donations. The first application that will be rolled out in Asheville City limits went live over the weekend and is ready for use by Asheville residents and visitors to the area. Trailcare is a geolocation-based application that keeps track of the activities of users of the tool and lets them donate an amount of their choice for the distance traveled in a “geofenced” area (within city limits). Trailcare calculates the donation (amount pledged per mile x miles completed within the geofence) and send an email to the user for approval. The money goes directly to AoB and is available for use immediately.

AoB is the fifth trail and cycling non-profit group in Western North Carolina to make use of the LuvTrails-Trailcare donation platform. They follow the example of Pisgah Area SORBA, Friends of DuPont Forest, G5 Trail Collective, and Nantahala Area SORBA.
